Born in the aftermath of World War II in Yokosuka, Japan, the Sukajan—or "souvenir jacket"—was originally commissioned by American servicemen who wanted to bring home something more memorable than a postcard. Local Japanese artisans combined American jacket silhouettes with traditional Japanese embroidery, decorating jackets with dragons, tigers, eagles, maps, and other iconic motifs.
What began as a personalized keepsake evolved into a lasting symbol of postwar cultural exchange, blending military heritage with Japanese artistry. Today, the Sukajan remains one of the most recognizable and collectible jacket styles in the world.
Our jacket stays true to the tradition of Sukajan. Built from smooth nylon with classic raglan sleeves and striped rib-knit trim, each colorway features custom-embroidered artwork inspired by the military, Americana, and the rough-around-the-edges attitude that made the original souvenir jackets legendary.
Jacket livery is fully embroidered and designed to look like something a bored serviceman might have commissioned after a few drinks and a questionable decision - the way a proper Sukajan should be.
