The "Crippled Eagles" were an informal group of approximately 300 American volunteers who fought in the Rhodesian Security Forces during the Rhodesian Bush War in the 1970s. Many were Vietnam War veterans drawn to anti-communist soldiering. American author Robin Moore coined the name to symbolize those US soldier's perceived abandonment by the U.S. government.
