In June of 1918, the Corps entered a shattered patch of French woodland and fought one of the bloodiest battles in its history. Advancing across exposed wheat fields into machine-gun fire, they spent weeks clearing the woods through artillery, gas, bayonets, and brutal close combat.
Belleau Wood tee honors those brave Devil Dogs who held the line, attacked into hell, and left their dead beneath the trees so others could carry the fight forward.
